I see JK Rowling has not been invited to attend the big reunion do because of her relatively moderate views on Transwomen. The Harry Potter reunion, that is, based on the books she wrote.
And Cancel Culture is not real or at least not a big issue according to many over at DATM.

On today's BBC news site, Maureen Lipman says she's worried terribly about cancel culture.
The same Maureen Lipman who protested outside a London theatre that put on a play about the second Palestinian intifida, refuses to work with Maxine Peake and says Palestinian badges should only be allowed to be worn in dressing rooms if the person also sports an Israeli badge.
To reuse a well worn phrase on here, you couldn't make it up.

Being offended on behalf of others whom aren't offended has to be one of the most sanctimonious actions in modern life.
Virtue signaling fucking tosh.
And while we're at it, someone's past coming back to haunt them.
Colsten and Churchill had statues removed/defaced because of some historical opinions/actions.
George Floyd had a statue erected but his historical misdemeanors were forgotten about.
Does a dodgy past only apply if it over a hundred years old?

Theres clearly a belief amongst the extremist wokes that people of certain minorities have the right to not be offended by anything.
that 'offence' doesnt have to take the form of being hated or persecuted or threatened with violence.
It can be by simply being criticised, being mocked or by having facts you dont want to hear being said... all coming under this new guise of 'hate crime'. Anyone falling foul of their fascist mentality is simply labelled as racist, homophobic, gammon etc etc
The irony being these woke extremists then direct actual hatred, persecution and threats of violence towards those whose opinions they find objectionable.
You couldn't make up how hypocritical and twisted their thinking is.
Anti facists demanding facist censorship and retribution ( hello DATM admins )
Anti racists having opinions and attitudes based entirely on the race of the people concerned.,
People who demand tolerance being completely intolerant of anyone who doesnt agree with them.
These extremists are just as toxic and bad for society as the extremists on the other end of the spectrum. Worse perhaps, as their intolerance seems to carry so much complicit influence with the establishment, be it politicians, celebs, the media. Everyone intimidated and running scared of them, fearing ( at the least ) their career and reputation going up in smoke.
The light at the end of the tunnel hopefully is that I reckon about 90% of people in this country see stories like that about JK Rowling, or the labour MP who daren't go to their party conference, and all the other stories in this never ending stream of woke lunacy and cancel culture and think 'what the fuck are these brainless morons on about?!" Whilst that remains the case there's still a chance common sense and rational intelligence can still return.

Isn't it just because his self-pitying whingy rhetoric is shit? Perhaps he has earned the right to a little self pity after having a number of his sold out gigs cancelled, and being dropped by his agent after other acts threatened the agent? Not everybody likes Lawrence. I get that. But this does appear to be another classic example of cancel culture in action. His cancellation was certainly applauded by some at DATM.

To reuse a well worn phrase on here, you couldn't make it up. There has been a lot of hypocrisy, to be sure. Graham Linehan supported some cancellations until cancel culture bit him on the arse. Like Fawlty Towers, I believe some lines are now being edited out of Father Ted.

Wonder if this is why Grim has been removing certain threads and deleting things? So not to tarnish any future career in the box

I really don't get it Nothing politics at all they've basically said. So that will account for alot of things then on there. If it's the case, it's well and truly gone to shit

I think free speech transcends politics ... until you try to ban it, ironically.

His self-pity was around long before any cancelling of gigs in the wake of his ill advised puns about the England team...he used to be on Stand Up For The Week where he was tediously dull.
