Its oil in my village. No one has gas. We dropped a bit lucky.. ordered 1000 litres a fortnight ago at 58p a litre. It came today. If I was ordering it today though it'd be 82p a litre.
For the vast majority its an expensive pain in the arse but in truth means they might just have the one holiday this year instead of also having that weekend break in Copenhagen or that week at centre parks later in the year. But there'll also be a lot of people who are going to find these fuel prices impossible to budget for. Sooner we move away from this reliance on fossil fuels the better.

You can buy a new car for the price of a week in Centre Parcs can't you?
So our leccy in December was 95 euros, last month that went up to 190. So, we have literally used the absolut minimum - no heating at all, we've used the woodburner for that, the pool runs for 3 hours a day at off peak tarriff - in summer that will need to be 8 hours, lights - we're super caeful what we have on, hot water tank on at off peak only hours, and cooking - and it's still 140 odd euros.
It might not sound a lot in comparison to what you are spending in the Uk, but it's still double of what it was this time last year.

I feel we are facing a stagflation crisis, and not just in the UK...rising inflation making people poorer, spending less, contracting the economy, and soon no doubt pushing unemployment up. This Russian disaster, coming on top of the still-active pandemic, is the very last thing we needed.

Suspect Putin hoped the west being so bruised economically by covid would reduce the sanctions they would receive for what theyre doing in Ukraine. Seems to have been a big miscalculation on his part. Have they opened the Russian stock exchange yet? They suspended it for at least 3 days last week to stop the whole thing imploding.

Their Exchange may open next Wednesday, apparently. And the rouble is still down in the gutter.
