I thought I could start off a non political thread.
As well as football, pubs, motorcycles, cars and VW Campers, I also have a passion for music from a broad spectrum of styles, other than modern pop.
This is the latest band I'm getting into. I heard the "Chaise Longue" track on the radio the other night and had to Shazam it.
May I present modern day Britpop, with a bit of US Verruca Salt thrown in ...... "Wet Leg".
First album out in about a month. Pre order is out already.

Here's one from a Halifax based band - Wax-Tree-Cast. James, the drummer, is a town fan - I did the Yorkshire Pefal 4 Pounds with him.
Nice little sound they've got going on.

Heard this while driving down to Almeria this week, songs been out a while but I've not heard it before. They just play the explicit version on the Spanish radio, fuck you's all overt gaff.

Quite boring, but I've got into Gang Of Youths recently...they seem to fill a Simple Minds shaped gap...

I don't know if it's old age or what but I seem to have been rediscovering a lot of stuff I listened to 40-odd years ago. These are high on the playlist:
Incidentally on this, it never ceases to amaze me how Phil Mogg could turn out superb versions of highly complex songs whilst being barely coherent between them.

Saw Rush at the NEC in ‘88…utterly mind blowing. Every gig I went to for next couple of years was a complete let down.

There aren't many gigs I've been to in my time when I came away with something more than just a feeling that either I'd liked or disliked the music, but aside from maybe Springsteen, Rush (I saw them at Wembley in 1983) sticks with me. A couple of years ago, I stumbled across a bootleg of the actual gig I was at. Often when you go back to something years later (think 1970s comedy re-runs) what you thought was brilliant actually turns out to be a bit naff. But in spite of the quality being dire, I ended up thinking if anything it was even better than I remember.
