They've got lovely bums though and it's better than Formula 1 Chess is better than F1, watching paint dry for people with to much money like tennis.

The BBC asking why there were such low crowds for the recent Arnold Clark women's football tournement. England managed a highest of 14000 at Carrow Road which they claim is 'well supported' , though I imagine there'll have been a few thousand free tickets given out amongst that. But Germany v Spain attracted 249. Which was a massive gate compared to the 119 that showed up for Spain v Canada.
despite englands 3 games the average for the 6 games was 6300... all played at stadiums that hold 30k plus.
I could tell the BBC why that is if they want to know. Its because despite the almost blanket coverage they give women's football, almost no one actually gives a stuff about it.

Probably doesn't apply with soccer, but in many female sports...gymnastics, weightlifting, rugby...a lot of participants are rendered incontinent by the extreme effort, and piss themselves.
Examples of lovely young ladies somersaulting across the floor, urine flying everywhere, are not uncommon. You wouldn't want to be the last one out on the mat!

According to Ian wrights thinking, that makes you a sexist pig. Womens football should be encouraged, it’s a great sport for young girls to get into, and they snd their families will absolutely love it, just as I did when both my girls played. Every now and again they do something really impressive. I remember my eldest scoring a screamer from 25 yards, went in off the underside of the crossbar. But in general it’s very poor stuff even at the very highest level

Totally agree. its great that girls play football. More people who play any sport is a good thing. And its good that the women's game gets some media coverage. But the way they give it practically the same amount as the PL, and way more than the championship is frankly absurd. The actual interest is smaller than the National League North.

I noticed the other day in the USA that the WSL won a long running battle for pay equality with the mens, including $ millions in back pay.
Their case is a little different to the rest of the world given that for a long period of time girls soccer was more popular than boys soccer but to repeat my point from a few weeks ago regarding Town ladies in the FA Cup surely wages can only be equal to the level of financial support it can attract ?
Obviously since the PL the mens game has seen countless mens teams spend way above their means, Derby and Reading are two of the current ones, to try and hit the financial jackpot that is the PL but FFP means they have points deducted for being so reckless with their wages, how are womens teams going to square that circle ?

yeah, the women's game should pay the money that the women's game generates. The expectation that the mens game 'owes' them something is bollocks. Clearly a lot of clubs financially support their women's team simply as a woke PR exercise. But if they start demanding more than that, never mind anything remotely comparable to what the men get, then Id imagine clubs will quickly ditch their women's teams.

A fascinating discussion which covers the alleged 'pay gap', in addition to gender pronouns. Certain of the DATM crowd spat their dummies out at the mere mention of Jordan Peterson.

Interesting listen. Not someone Id ever heard of myself..
I can imagine how certain people on DATM wouldn't like him because, as he's says in that piece.,its a lot easier to simply propel someone to the far extreme opposite end of the political spectrum to yourself so you dont have to engage, than it is to actually listen to and counter their views.. You have to actually have an argument if youre going to do that.

You have to actually have an argument if youre going to do that. I disagree with your dig at the good people at DATM (generally speaking I find it is/was always more reasonable than real life) but to aim your basic point at the cultural shift in the wider population I think has merit. "If you disagree with me then you are evil &/or stupid and therefore not worth engaging with". I'm open to the possibility that I might be wrong. I've changed my mind on all sorts of things as new* evidence has come to light. Sadly, being able to shout louder, or being "passionate" seems to trump reasoned, logically coherent argument more & more often. * NB - New evidence doesn't actually have to be new - just has to be new to me - i.e. something I was previously unaware of.

Not all of DATM by any means, but there are certain people who would and did do that.
the moment you deviate from their view you are a 'bigot' a 'racist', a 'homophobe' etc etc
