With Global warming its been the hottest Seven years on record, how do we all feel about this, the pros for me are it's better for sitting in beer gardens, but on the negative side I've spent quite a lot of money on coats and boots recently,it's nice not having to scrape ice off the car windows though.

Of course, if the climate changes - even to become warmer over all - that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be warmer here.
If it results in the gulf stream being shut off we'd be significantly colder.

Hottest on record.... Coldest on record... What about prior to records beginning? There's always a shift with changing temperatures as has been seen over the years, big freeze etc. The sun and the flares given off contribute to it and do change year on year.
I've listened to arguments for and against it all. As mad as he can be, Alex Jones spoke very well regarding it on a podcast. To do with using fossil fuels etc.

My first winter living in County Durham and so far its like living north of the wall in games of thrones! Bloody snows all the time! Yeah ive heard that the ice melting in the arctic and flowing into the north Atlantic could shut off the Gulf Stream and throw the northern hemisphere into an ice age. At least if that was to happen we've already shown with Covid that we can remain calm in a crisis. Better start stocking up on loo rolls.

H,i capt.......my mother's (mining) family hale from Bishop Auckland. Is that anywhere near your new neck of the woods? The Gulf Stream is supposedly at its weakest level in a thousand years. It's presumably fluctuated throughout its history.....not sure how science ascertains past flow rates. As it slows, it would bring less heat to our corner of NW Europe....depending how matters panned out, that might offset/be offset by general global warming, though unlikely to be in balance. The UK becoming a magnet for climate refugees wouldn't be overly popular here.....the moreso if the weakening Stream reduced rainfall, and impacted on farming output (assuming there would still be some farming, and the land hadn't all been rewilded!).

BC is lovely. Like I imagine most town centres were like 50 or 60 years ago, with loads of little independent shops, galleries, antique shops, loads of pubs and cafes and a couple of market days a week Seems permanently busy even at this time of year. Apparently Cummings did wonders for the town in lockdown and put it on the map for a lot of people who probably ( like me at the time ) thought it was actually just a castle.

Is there some nice old pubs there?is it a bit like Ripon and Thirsk?

Lot of the buildings in the centre date back to around the 16th century including a couple of the pubs I think. Some are probably older than that. Some good drinking pubs but bit lacking in good restaurants.
Loads of history though that even pre dates the castle with a roman road going straight through the town which is now the A67.
Its a bit like a smaller version of Richmond with the town set back from the river on high ground with a castle in between.

One place in the U.K. I love to champion is Seaham, it’s costal, just below Sunderland and when I lived in Dewsbury it became our day out of choice with the dog.
Free parking everywhere, dog friendly beaches all year round, dog friendly cafes and pubs, proper fish n chip shop ( using beef dripping, not vegetable oil ), a few decent shops as well but it’s a former mining town in the North East it’s not Oxford Street, it also has a large car boot market on a Sunday, the WW l Tommy Statue, if your lucky you see sea lions sunbathing on the harbour walls and about a mile away is the dog friendly Seaton Lane Inn if you want to make it an overnight stay - we did, 3 or 4 times.
Then the cherry on top is the world famous Seaham sea glass, the first time we walked on the beach everyone was either walking their dog or on their hands and knees looking at the floor - I asked a woman what she was doing and she told me about sea glass, about 5 miles up the coast is the Sunderland glass factory and for the first 100 or so years they worked they used to tip all the waste and breakages into the North Sea, it still crops up today, in vast quantities as coloured glass pebbles, perfectly smooth, they don’t cut you and it becomes incredibly addictive walking along looking for them.
I absolutely guarantee that anyone who goes for the day with their dog will thank me for the tip off, we converted 3 couples while still in the U.K.

Ah, this bullshido was just aired with a slightly different twist, on the Absolute Radio news and the same Climate Fascism Propaganda will be rolled out on the hour, every hour. The actual comment this time was "Last year was ONE OF the seven warmest on record".... Translates as "Without telling you when we started this particular record, last year was colder than at least 6 other years". So, we've gone from "The last 7 years are the warmest on record" on the 10th January, to "Last year was ONE OF the 7 warmest" on January 19th. "One of the 7 warmest" means 7th, i.e. colder than at least 6. And this Armageddon increase in temperature? Ah yes, a whoppingly tiny 1.1 degrees C over the average plucked form 1850-1900, so 172-122 years ago. I love how they direct the sheep with twisted statistics. It's a great game spotting the lies.
