This is wrong.
Physically, this is a man, aside from some hormone treatment, and surgery, Lia has the frame of a well built male athlete - I can't believe that there isn't more objection to transgender athletes competing against natural gendered athletes.
We've already had the discussion onthe transgender kick boxer that beat up a woman a few months ago - and this is another case where natural physical attributes from your birth gender give you a ridiculous physical advantage.
Sorry Lia, you should be competing with the males.

Yes it's a totally unfair advantage and should not be allowed. Sadly people are frightened to speak out after what's happened to the likes of JK Rowling but I expect a few females in that swimming race are thinking 'what's the point', this is not good for sport .

His rights to say he's a woman and compete against women are clearly more important than all the other womens' right to only compete against women on a fair level playing field.
What honour and pride does he get out of that 'victory' exactly? Like being 20 and being the best player in an under 10s football match.
I mean look at the photograph.. then the ultra-woke wonder why people chuckle at the absurdity of it all.

I don't doubt her sincerity in wanting to live as a woman, but the fact that she has been through male puberty offers an unfair sporting advantage that anyone must be aware of.
Whilst I hear the argument that her hormones have been altered to put her more in line with that of a cis-gender woman, it seems quite clear that there are other factors at play. If there weren't we'd doubtless be seeing just as many FTM trans athletes dominating the mens' competitions as there are MTF trans people dominating in womens' sport.
A couple of points to make: 1) I'm using the female pronouns for Lia Thomas because that is what I presume she prefers, and there is no benefit to anyone treating somebody disrespectfully or unkindly, regardless of whether you agree with them. 2) The hormone replacement certainly does have an impact. Lia's times did get worse after transitioning - and there are some FTM athletes who compete with cis gender men with some success. However - I am not aware of any of them utterly dominating their fields in the manner that Lauren Hubbard, Lia Thomas, Rachel McKinnon/Veronica Ivy (& possibly others) have done.

With any luck, it won’t be long before WOKEISM finally disappears up its own arse. It’s certainly heading that way.

I think this is a pretty fair analysis overall. I don't have any issue at all (other than remembering) calling people by unusual pronouns, but I do have issues in general terms when one group of people demanding certain rights has a significant adverse effect on others. There are also several aspects of the transgender issue that cause me concerns. In terms of sports, I'm not sure how we would ever be able to filter out the various impacts of your original gender, your new one, and your basic talent at a particular sport. You could have turned me into a working model of Marilyn Monroe & I'd still struggle to beat 6-year-olds in a swimming gala. I suppose this will end up being one to watch. If transgender athletes start mopping up prizes & world records all over the place then something will have to change.

I don't doubt her sincerity in wanting to live as a woman, Well done on using all the wrong pronouns just to be right on and signal massive virtue. That sentence makes zero sense though, doesn't it? If "her" is wanting to be a woman, then "her" is a "he". I love how fact, even medical fact, is thrown out of the window in modern leftie unicorn world, if someone decides someone else may decide to pretend to be a victim over it.

"I'm programmed to lie about someone's sex in order to project virtue and feel smug, because the media which controls my thoughts tells me this is Goodthink". This programmed in WOKE bullsh1t is killing society one piece at a time and if it gets out on control, will finish off the human race. There's a good reason the natural sexual attraction is towards the opposite sex. I presume you understand about reproduction and the furthering of the species? I do wonder now, with brainwashing kids into being gay at a young age, long before they've even let their natural instincts kick in, that the left wing establishment is actually using this to lower population. Unfortunately, this will only lower them in virtue signalling Western countries. We'll just end up being outbred and taken over by cultures with traditional belief systems and control still based on religion, not left wing media.

I've often wondered if there should be something akin to the T classifications you have in para-sports...then still race or swim or jump alongside other females-from-birth, but just get results recorded separately. It shouldn't be that difficult to do and manage, quite often in age-group athletics for example, you get 14 year olds racing alongside 17 year olds because there's not enough runners for a certain distance etc. I guess the difficulty is that Lia and others want to be, and have the rights to be, identified as a woman, and inventing new categories just stigmatises and throws up more barriers moving forwards.

I just wouldn't allow them to compete.
If someone wants to change their gender, make what physical alterations to themselves to that end that they can.. then thats fine. Dont have an issue with that.
But actually competing against ( in this case ) women, when they clearly still maintain some or all the physical advantages they naturally have as the male they were born, is just totally unfair on all other competitors and makes a mockery of the sporting integrity any sport needs.
They wouldn't like not being allowed to compete.. they'll moan that their rights are being infringed... but their rights dont supersede all the other competitors rights.
And you can't help thinking there is a certain amount of opportunism going on. Taking advantage of this gender change to excel at a sport that previously they couldn't. Presumably in the hope of financial reward somewhere along the line, as there can't be any actual reward in the shape of pride or honour you wouldn't think.

I'm kicking myself for not thinking about that one before daring to express an opinion at variance with the Mighty and All-Seeing Marcus.
I'm sure you don't see it, but you are the very personification of Big Brother. You simply cannot tolerate any sort of alternative view of the world to the one you are dictating is the correct one. But whilst we are trying to debate how to manage these complexities in a way that is fair to all, the only thing you can do is fling around your usual rubbish about programming, brainwashing or wokeism. You actually are contributing ZERO to any discussion by your attitude.
As far as I'm concerned, and I don't give a flying whatever what labels (in the absence of any serious intellectual or philosophical construct) you want to start flinging about, I will continue to support equality and diversity, with the caveats that I can and do share with reasonable-minded people.

I will continue to support equality and diversity, Your version of "equality" means singling out minority groups for special treatment. That's not equality, that's discriminating against the majority. That makes you a racist heterophobe. Let's take a step back and think what damage this is doing to women's sport for a minute? Or in your culture, do women no longer matter, as a c*ck in a frock scores more virtue signalling points? "Diversity" is most present in areas where child sex grooming gangs are most prevalent, or stabbings, or Country Lines drugs gangs, or rapes, or murders. More diversity please, as it's clearly working at the current level of importing "diversity" and encouraging no integration or moving away from stone age cultures. Much virtue, many signal.

I love how fact, even medical fact, is thrown out of the window in modern leftie unicorn world, if someone decides someone else may decide to pretend to be a victim over it. When dealing with people I tend to use manners to the best of my ability. Even though I don't need to use the word "please" to inform the other person what I want, it's a word I tend to use because I prefer to treat people as they would wish to be treated - particularly when doing so has absolutely no negative impact on anybody else. Using the pronouns that somebody else prefers is no more "virtue signalling" than saying "please" and "thank you". What you are effectively doing is not just failing to use "please" & "thank you", but calling somebody out as a virtue signaller when they use those words. You're actively discouraging empathy & good manners. Ignorance is fine. We're all ignorant about one thing or another. But when you are not just wilfully ignorant, but you actively wear your boorishness as a badge of honour it makes you incredibly difficult to respect.
