Should Afghan migrants be allowed onto our shores? Discuss...

Well I earlier said we should allow translators into the uk with their families. We are now looking at a influx of thousands. I'm sorry but there is no way we can cope. British citizens are struggling to be housed. I would hazard a guess Afghans been technically homeless on their arrival will be given priority.

Just seen the footage of people clinging to the plane. 2 falling to their deaths. The rest who managed to hold on dead also..obviously. is this sheer desperation or sheer lack of any sort of knowledge, or a combination of both. Very sad either way. Also saw the us aircraft absolutely rammed, but not so much to my surprise, mostly men. What's going on

Just FYI. It isn't that much a discussion. Spoke with some of lads, one was out providing top cover for the evacuating Afghanis. There's going to be rules on who goes where and requirements to enter. Alot will be placed in "safe" neighbouring countries...... apparently

How desperate are these people to escape the Taliban?
Let's not forget, they are not fleeing the country for what it was, they are fleeing the country for what it will become.

It's grim. I could be wrong but wasn't the taliban a group that was created because they opposed the soviet union and were at war in the 80's? And the uk etc supported the taliban.
I find it odd how we have had soldiers over there for two decades but then just wash our hands clean of the matter. What a waste of money time and lives. Saying that i wouldnt wish anyone to have to go over there. Some harrowing stories that i have read in the past.

The Taliban has assured the BBC that 'women will enjoy rights within the frame work of Sharia Law'. In other words, not much in the way of rights.
Money talks, and providing China share the profits from Afghanistan's rich Lithium reserves (recently discovered), the Taliban are likely to remain quiet for the most part, save for abusing their own people.
Sleepy uncle Joe has fecked up big time, economically as well as militarily. Given that he gets lost on the white house lawn, it's frightening to think what else he might be capable of in addition to this Afghan debacle. Bring back Trump. All is forgiven.

"In politics nothing ever happens by accident. If it happens you can bet it was planned that way." Franklin D. Roosevelt Goldman Sachs are heavily invested in China. I wonder if that is somehow connected to this, particularly in view of Afghanistan's huge lithium reserves... More money in that than poppies right now. Just thinking aloud.

Curious that the Taliban in exile were all in Qatar. Thats Qatar that now claims it is "rescuing" the Afghan womens robotic team....what a joke. Close the borders and let them wallow in the shite of their own making. Nothing to do with us.

I posted this on t'other board. A bit wasted over there obviously, but here it is for those who might be interested.
Countries are just lines on a map, especially in this of part the world. The lines around Afghanistan were drawn up by the Brits. These regions are principally tribal, and this is where loyalties lie. The Taliban are Pashtun, a tribe based across Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Pashtun are a backward Islamic cult, essentially.
Britain and Russia always took an interest in Afghanistan because of it's strategic position - the silk road and all that.
Here is an interesting documentary that explains much of the complex history. Most of the regions of what is now Afghanistan were Hindu and Buddhist up until the 10th century. The invaders laid waste to many cities, peoples, and cultures.

I see Hamas have praised the Taliban 'success' in Afghanistan. Notably, Hamas and the Taliban are still permitted on Facebook and Twitter, unlike the former president of the US. Funny old world.
