I'm gonna be blunt. I think he needs a time out Mel. A week really. Comes back and same then off him. Nobody is posting except people in retaliation to the constant Merry go round of same shite.
I'm not one for bans usual but when's too much?
Not a one off or even a few off, it's loads per day. If this is how its going to be, I'll skip being on either forum as it's just bolloxks to read

I've never reported anyone or called for a ban ever here or on DATM, but he's making it incredibly hard to write anything of any substance because you're focussed on the incoming abuse more than what counter-arguments might exist or how to try & make a point effectively. The thing is, he isn't stupid & actually posts some interesting stuff at times but until he can cut out the relentless abuse, he's just wrecking every thread. |

I want to listen, debate & discuss with people who think the opposite to me. I can find plenty of left-wing echo chambers if I want to. But nobody wants to debate with someone if three quarters of their output is abusive.

What a mess, 8 million facing starvation, 4 billion $$$ required urgently, no great surprise though, why would an organisation like the Taliban know how to run a Country. We can't sit back and let all these people starve but dealing with the taliban won't go down well with western governments, what's the answer ? This is what happens when you get a murderous bunch of thugs attempting to run a country , the Taliban want little to do with the west , that's apart from the aid we are sending of course . Getting involved in the first place was possibly a mistake , like Iraq , I would continue to send aid but would have nothing to do with them apart from that. |

Agree totally, the point of my initial post regarding the Rambo film was that in 1988 the West supported Afghanistan because those nasty Russians had invaded (and for clarity I accept that due to memory I may have the dedication mixed up, Taliban, Mujahdeen etc but it’s not in dispute that a major Hollywood movie was supporting the Afghans) and that’s my point. Nothing is simply black and white. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter, that’s as relevant today as it was 500 years ago with the Spanish conquering swathes of South America or 40,000 years ago when Neanderthals started taking over from Cro-mangons. The U.K. and indeed Spain aren’t perfect but whenever I watch the news and you see Somalia or Syria or D.R. Congo it seems the less the country has the more it’s people are willing to fight over it and indeed the more democratic sounding it is the more tyrannical it is in reality. It’s all too easy to dismiss all Afghans as terrorists and our enemy, some of them of course are but I’d wager the majority of ordinary men, women and children aren’t much different to you and I and to use another Hollywood film reference, Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg the true story of a Navy Seal Operation that goes tits up, features a whole village that is prepared to fight Taliban soilders to protect a guest in their homes because of their Patshun Code of Honour. |
