Gervais stating the fucking obvious....... to some of us at least.. The trouble is, new hate speech laws define hate speech using the term "In the perception of the victim"! There have now been thousands of hate speech convictions based on the most ridiculous and tenuous accusations. A lass in Liverpool, for example, posted the lyrics of her friend's favourite rap song as a tribute after he died in a road accident. Unfortunately, the lyrics contained the N word. She ended up with a hate speech conviction. No joking. Woman who posted rap lyrics as tribute on Instagram guilty of sending offensive messagewww.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/woman-who-posted-rap-lyrics-14543694Surely the intelligence and sanity of the judge and arresting officers should be called into question?

The problem is the judge and the arresting officers (driving round in rainbow coloured cars no doubt) have to factor in the outcry if they don't make the conviction. You see it everywhere, it's part of the reason this forum now exists I guess. Somebody should have told somebody to shut the fuck up a few decades ago, but now those that don't want to hear, see or read things they don't like have the power to their elbow to have it removed from existence, rather than just ignoring it.

Unfortunately this is the very epitome of cultural Marxism Mel. Pander to all the various minorities at the expense of the majority which is the very opposite of democracy. But of course all the virtue signalling snowflakes fall for it so easily because they have been convinced by the compliant media that they are being altruistic, without realising they are contributing to the destruction of democracy. I do believe that most of them have genuine intentions but cannot see beyond the incessant, 24/7 propaganda.

Why didn't the original rapper get in bother?

Why didn't the original rapper get in bother? He was an American rapper and the new UK Hate Crime laws don't apply in the US. Free speech is enshrined in their constitution and all that, but don't be surprised if senile uncle Joe performs another dumb ass trick.

Finally, a victory for free speech. Having an opinion doesn't necessarily warrant a hate speech conviction in the UK anymore. We were moving in that direction, truth be told.

Interesting to see if Piers returns to ITV. I know he was the one that stormed out, but the way ITV handled what happened next was poor. He had to apologise? Erm, no, he didn’t have to do anything. I know Piers can rub people up the wrong way, but fair play to him for sticking to his opinion, whether you agree with it or not. In a world of racism and homophobia, what he said pales into complete insignificance.

Not a great fan of Piers Morgan but I am a fan of free speech so I'm well pleased with this decision.

What pisses me off most of all is people being 'offended' on behalf of others. Pathetic doesn't even begin to cover it.
